Youth & Minis Rugby

Cartha Queen's Park RFC has very active and enthusiastic Youth & Minis sections providing facilities and tuition for over 200 local children aged between 5 and 17. All our coaches are enthusiastic and keen to enable as many children as possible to enjoy the pleasures of a team sport that not only builds character and self discipline, but also provides the opportunity to forge lifelong friendships.
All our coaches are SRU qualified and CRB checked.
We encourage active participation from parents and guardians and we have our own youth and minis website www.carthakids.com which is regularly updated with details of training, fixtures, news and events.
The Youth Section (Midi Rugby)
S1 - S6 (Under 18)
Midi Rugby is a slightly shortened version of the senior game, with slight variations in the laws to try to ensure the development does everything to promote individual skill and expression, while ensuring the game is fun.
The Youth Rugby sections seek to encourage all local secondary school pupils of all age groups from first year or S1 to sixth year or U17 to join the club to take part in training and games, primarily drawn from the Glasgow District area, but also from further afield.

The Mini Section
P1 - P7
Mini rugby is the life-blood of our rugby club. It is where we get our Midis and a number of our senior players, so it plays a vital role in the future success of any rugby club. The Mini Rugby sections seek to encourage all local primary school pupils from P1- P7 to join in training and some organised games.
We concentrate on ensuring that :
- the playing / training environment is safe for children and ensuring an element of fun
- all club representatives the children interact with are trusted and friendly
- parents and carers are involved as much as possible in the running of the club and are communicated to at appropriate times
Minis train on Sundays 12:45pm to 2.15pm (some P6 & P7 also on Wednesday evening 6:30- 8.00) and we play 'games' with other local clubs on Sunday from 1:00pm to 2:30pm.
Overall, we want the players to enjoy playing, to have fun.
