Before this game started it was possible to observe the CQP warm up. It was enthusiastic and it was very noisy. Something was astir.
From the off CQP quickly took the game to Shire and it was no surprise when with only seven minutes on the clock CQP opened the scoring with a try by Ross Gillies oat the side which Wayne Burrows converted after CQP pushed Shire over their line with a very neatly controlled push over try.
With only three more minutes played Perthshire responded with a good backs try of their own which was also converted to put the score at seven a piece. The scorer was Brockbank.
A few minutes later saw Michael Plltz our Polish front row make a first class break. to keep CQP on the front foot. Shortly after this Perthshire were reduced to fouteen men when one of their forwards was sinbinned for a half arm tackle..CQP duly took full advantage when Ross Gillies scored his second pushover try which once more Burrows converted.
With seven minutes left on the clock Wayne Burrows made a fine break from about twenty metres out to give CQP their third try which the same player converted to push CQP into a convincing 21-7 lead.
Soon after this we witnessed a fine break by Big G but unfortunately his pass to Michael Nellaney was dislodged in the tackle and the opportunity to add further to the score was lost.
Half-time CQP 21 Perthshire 7
CQP opened up the second half as they had finished the first and a fine effort by Ross Gilmour using his feet well to control the ball saw him kick the ball into the in goal area only to be denied a try by a fine bit of defensive cover by the Perthshire player who reached the ball about a second before Ross.
With ten minutes played Pete Nicol took the field in place of Steven Murray and Gregg Gilmour went in as hooker with Plltz moving to tight head in place of Robert Harvey
Shortly after this Andy Noble secured CQP's fourth try for the bonus point and quickly after this CQP increased their lead to 31-7 with a fifth try scored by Ross Gillies off a take and drive from the lineout after Perthshire conceded a penalty.
Half way through the second half CQP added try number six after they won a lineout near the perthshire line after Perthshire conceded a penalty with the scorer on this occasion being Ben Shepherd. Wayne Burrows hit the upright with his attempted conversion and the score moved to 36-7.
A good perthshire counterattack was well foiled by Rob May. and with twenty-nine minutes played Tam Davidson picked up at the back of the scrum with CQP pack again threatening to push Shire back over their line. Burrows narrowly missed the conversion to the right.tio leave the score at 41-7
Five minutes later saw Ross Gilmour whose parents were on the touchline score a fine try finished off with a flourish
Awarded another penalty just inside the Shire half, CQP backline passed the ball right out the threequarter line to Andy Noble on the right wing who went in at the corner for his second try of the day.
Almost immediately after this with CQP in full flow Ross Gillies got his second try in the final move of the game to push the finasl score to 56-7.
As stated at the beginning of this report the indications that CQP were very much up for this game were to be seen before the kick off. There was a ruthlessness present that we have not seen in earlier games.
As a result of this resounding victory CQP moved themselves two places up the table to sit in fifth place
Final Score Cartha Queen's Park 56 Perthshire 7
