The first XV match reports for Howe and Hill/Hill are online. Thanks to Gavin McGregor for compiling.

This seasons reports have the Game first and followed by the date.

Last seasons are in the Match Archive

CQP team: 15 Black 14 Noble 13 R Gilmour 12 Goudie 11 May 10 Burrows 9 Davidson 8 Cook 7 Dickson 6  G Gilmour 5 Williamson 4 Nellanay 3 McKinnon 2 Pllc 1 Harvey Subs Manning Docherty Lamont and Hollier.

The match was played in dry but dull conditions. and the referee was Graeme Wells of the Edinburgh Referees Society. CQP sported their latest strip for the first time.

From the start CQP dominated possession but with fourteen minutes played Morgan were awarded a penalty which was converted by Knox. The penalty count continued go quite heavily against CQP for a variety of technical infringements but with nineteen minutes played Iain Cook was sinbinned when CQP were driving through in the ruck.…

Almost immediately after this with CQP down to fourteen players David Goudie made a fine break down the centre before puting out a well timed pass to Andy Noble who was supporting on his right hand side. Andy still had some work to do but drew his man moved as though to go outside only to change direction and go to the inside and score about twentyfive metres to the right of the right post. Andy Black converted to push the score to 7-3 to CQP.

Shortly after that Morgan were awarded another penalty this time more or less in front of the posts which they converted to narrow the score to 7-6

Shortly after this Tam Davidson sustained an injury and was replaced by Johnny Manning which lead to the team being rearranged with Andy Black moving from full back to scrum half and Johnny Manning taking over at the back.

Shortly after this Andy Noble took a leg knock which required attention but was able to continue.

After Iain Cook came back on Morgan were awarded a penalty in front of the posts which they converted to move the score as 7-6.

Just before half-time with CQP again down to fourteen men with Callum Dickson in the bin for failure to release CQP scored again with a good try touched down by Rob May on the left hand side. The conversion was unsuccessful leaving the half-time score as CQP 12 morgan 6.

When play resumed CQP continued to press but were being handicapped by conceding too many penalties.

With CQP pressing hard on the Morgan line Burrows threw out a long pass across the face of the posts which was intercepted by  Milligan who sprinted clear down the centre of the pitch to touch down between the posts and give Knox an easy conversion opportunity which he took to put Morgan into a 13-12 lead.

With Dickson back on the field CQP again pressed upfield and were awarded a scrum some five metres out from the Morgan line. CQP took their own ball and then steadily pushed Morgan back over their line with Ian Cook touched down after exercising superb control of the ball at the back of the scrum. Andy Black then converted to push CQP back into the lead 19-13

CQP continued to dominate up front and in due course were awarded another penalty close to the Morgan line. Normally CQP would have gone for a take and drive off the line out but no doubt influenced by their third try decided to take the scrum which they won and again pushed Morgan back over their line with Robert Harvey getting the credit for the touchdown This time the bonus winning try went unconverted to move the score to 24-13.

With about six minutes left on the clock CQP saw their third back row player Gregg Gilmour sent to the bin this time apparently for persistent offside.

With time running out Morgan were awarded yet another penalty which they slotted and the game was then played out without further incident.

Sitting above Morgan in the league CQP might have expected to win this game but victories for CQP over Morgan are seldom won by large margins and given the three yellow cards and the heavy adverse penalty count CQP could afford to feel satisfied with their performance.

Tony Nyangweso missed this game with an ACL problem and Andy Scott was rested on a precautionery basis with a tight hamstring. Ross Gillies and Andy will probably both be available for selection for our next game,

Once again there was good news from elsewhere with our two's gaining a five pointer over Gasgow Accies who were one place above them before their game. The CQP day was completed by a victory for the thirds over Loch Lomond Two's
