Update from Dan Young, Youth Convenor
As we are heading to the end of the first "better weather rugby" season for the youth section of Cartha Queens Park RFC, I though it would be good to send out a little email to keep you informed with what the youth section have been up to since my last email.
Firstly I would like to thank Grant Edmondson of MEPC who has provided sponsorship for the minis P5 team who will be wearing their new strips with the MECP logo very soon and Greg Chalmers of Lambert Contracts Ltd who has also kindly agreed to sponsor a team from the Cartha Queens Park Minis (team still to be decided). I also have a number of deals in the pipeline to renew strips for the current U15's team and the current S2 team once these have been confirmed and the money is received I will issue an other update to all members.
Due to the minis moving over to better weather rugby this season the minis have managed to attend and play in 100% of all scheduled fixtures which is a great achievement considering the weather we had in February and March of this year this is all down to the hard work and effort of Stephen Running who arranged and organised the fixtures for the season.
The NCS Glasgow City sevens, was a great success this year with the introduction of ball boy's and girls although it didn't go without it's hic ups however this was our first time and we have learned a lot of lesson's for next year, I would like to thank all the kids, coaches and parents who helped out on the day as this would not be possible without them the unsung hero's of the day.
The Emirates Airline Edinburgh Sevens Festival, for the first time ever we attended this festival with the P6 and P7 teams of Cartha Queens Park RFC to compete in a festival of rugby against teams from all over Scotland and the chance to watch the Scotland team and many more in action at Murryfield (for most of the kids this was their first time at Murryfield) we took 18 players on the day but managed to almost fill the 57 seater bus with parents and supporters.

Moving on to the end of the season it's a tradition within the youth section to finish off the season with a family fun day and each year I will try to build on the success of the previous year by adding additional events for the day, last year seen the introduction of the Coaches V the CQP 3B's which ended the day very nicely.
This year will hopefully see the coaches turn out against the CQP 3rds which is currently being arranged by Andrew Lamont I will put up posters in the club house with further details once all the arrangement have been confirmed.
This years Family Fun day will be held on Sunday the 19th of June from 1:30pm onwards, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all member of Cartha Queens Park RFC and affiliated Clubs within Cartha QP to attend with their family's and participate in the games and activity's at our Youth Sections Family Fun Day (fingers crossed that the weathers good).
If you have any questions regarding the information that I have provided above please feel free to call, email or speak to me next time you see me in the club house.
