Glasgow Warriors stormed to victory at the NCS Glasgow City Sevens today with an impressive eight try, 48-0 final victory over London Wasps at the home of Cartha Queens Park.

In a similar fashion to the Scottish Thistles side that won the famous Melrose tournament in 2008, ten of the 16-man Scotland squad announced last week entered the tournament as part of the their preparation for the London and Edinburgh legs of the HSBC Sevens World Series at the end of May.
The Warriors opened their City Sevens account with a comfortable nine-try, 53-0 win over Whitecraigs in the first round which set them up with another greater-Glasgow side, GHA.
The Giffnock side sprung an early surprise and opened a 10-point lead however the Warriors soon settled and ran in 33 points with only a further five in answer from GHA to pit them against Magners League rivals Ospreys in the semi-final.
In the close encounter the sides exchanged scores up until half time, with two tries and a conversion from each side making it all square at the interval, Warriors’ first half highlights coming from a Scott Riddell brace and a try saving tackle from young full-back Tom Brown.
Glasgow came out stronger in the second half and registered another two tries (from Brown and try machine Andrew Turnbull) to Ospreys’ one, with Peter Horne’s conversions putting them through to the final (17-26).
In a blistering first half, Glasgow registered 26 unanswered points with tries from Brown, Riddell and a brace from the ever-present Horne.
Glasgow continued their fine form in the second half, running in another four tries thanks to Brown, a hat-trick completing try from Horne, squad replacement Kerr Gossman (Glasgow Hawks) and the fourth from Turnbull.
