Cartha Queen's Park has been succesful in obtaining grants for refurbishment
As a result of tireless work by the committee and President Denis Sherlock, Cartha Queens Park Rugby Club are pleased to announce that Cartha Queen's Park has been granted an award of nearly £52,000 from the SportScotland Sports Facilities Fund.
This, together with five Area Committee Awards totalling £20,000, an SRU Facilities Grant award and the generosity of CPMS (who will be the appointed contractor) gives a total of nearly £80,000.
Work will involve the refurbishment of the shower and changing facilities and rebuilding of the external pitch, training areas, car park and roadway lighting.
Once the works have been completed at Cartha Queens Park, this will herald the finale of a long process of club refurbishment which started almost a decade ago with the rebuilding of the club house.
The club has already hosted the Under 21 Rugby World Cup and hosts the Glasgow City Sevens every year. The upgraded facilities will mean that the club is in a good position to offer a top class training venue for upcoming events such as the Commonwealth Games in 2014.
There is a down side in that;
The male toilets, kit room, original showers and dressing rooms and medical room will be inaccessible from Monday 4 October for at least 4 weeks.
The gymnasium will only be accessible from outside the clubhouse.
However we think that it will be a minor inconvience to get new facilities.
